Ridiculous...(see here). But there is hope though. It still has to go through the Parliament.

Software patenting is indeed steering things up, as this article on Café Babel: Software patents are threatening to reach Europe approaches. A view implying a great deal more of political influences and trends than the mere Microsoft powerfull lobbying.
